Familiar shapes emerge within the harbour lights, illuminated trees and the long curve of Nessie stretching across the water. Their colour reflects and distorts on the surface, creating movement within an otherwise still scene.
The painting captures a tradition people return to year after year, where a familiar place is seen differently, held briefly in light before returning to its quieter state.

The painting also contains a subtle fluorescent detail. Invisible under normal lighting, the stars respond to ultraviolet light, creating an additional layer inspired by the way astronomy reveals details that often remain hidden from the naked eye.
